I'm Joe Waine, a design engineer based in New York. I build software where the interface feels right and the engineering underneath is solid — agentic systems, LLM integration, real-time communication, and 3D procedural generation. Currently at Fractal Tech's AI accelerator.

## Background

I studied Visual Communication at Cornish College of the Arts before getting a Graduate Certificate in Software Design from UW Bothell. That combination — design training plus engineering practice — is the lens I bring to everything I build. I've been building for the web since 2013: agency work for Fortune 500 clients, a full MEVN ordering platform serving five restaurants, and independent consulting for US and international clients. More recently I've been building AI-powered tools: txtinsted (an SMS service that lets you book Ubers and send payments from a flip phone), LotusVoice (push-to-talk dictation for macOS using local Whisper AI), and a face-generation experiment with Stable Diffusion. Outside of work, I produce music, create visual art, and have contributed to charitable causes including Mary's Place Seattle.
